Ring Making at Stonybrook Farm

We had a great time making rings at Stonybrook Fine Arts. All the staff members were knowledgable, easy to understand and more than willing to help thru every step. For beginner or someone with metal working skills will enjoy this experience. We made two rings, one out of copper and the other silver.

Class size was large(I thought it was, any), about 15 and the two staff members did there best to keep everyone engaged and moving thru each step of the process. Being one of two males in attendance, I was fortunate enough to get a wider piece of copper material to make my first ring. From start to finish, if I had not stopped to take photos or not had the large number of people it might have taken me 30-40 minutes. The longest part of making the ring involved making sure the ends are square before soldering your two ends. Spending the time to get that right makes everything else following so much easier. Working the torch was a cool experience as well. It will take some getting use to using the strike.

The second rind, silver, took even less time. Silver a harder material was harder to work with but a much better look and feel than the copper. Overall a great time and experience for used both. Another great find from Groupon!
